muffled

i try to speak,

but no one hears.

my thoughts are muffled,

stuck in my brain

with no way out.

but speaking is easier

when no one is there

to hear me.

when the only person

i have to impress

is myself.

words are more eloquent,

sentences are more smooth.

i win every argument

and feel good about it.

then, i walk outside,

into a whole world

that i have to face,

and, once again,

i am muffled.

no clear speech, at all.

words are basic,

and sentences are jagged.

but muffled words

are better than

no words at all.
