Four-Letter Word
10/21/14

The sun came streaming in through the stained glass window. “Is it morning?” I asked with a start. Indeed, it was. I could see that the last leaf had departed from that faithful oak overlooking my bedroom. It was the kind of morning when you’re not ready. You’re not ready because of that little four-letter word. The word that does not understand you. The word that shields you from humanity. It keeps you hidden like a ray of sunshine in a winter storm. It is your kryptonite. It is something that everyone strives to get rid of, but oddly enough, it can’t seem to budge. Fear. However, you must not forget that this little word is competing with two bigger, more powerful words. Embrace. Defeat. It is not something to eliminate, but rather an entity with which to coexist. Embrace it. Defeat it.
